A Sociocultural Perspective - Video: "A Girl Like Me"

This Video and Assignment deal with the Socio-Cultural Perspective of Psychology (Ch1, S4)
1. Be sure to read pg. 27 "Bringing Diversity into Psychology" before viewing the video "A Girl Like Me"
How do some African-Americans view themselves?
Look at the following video entitled "A Girl Like Me". Click here to view it. Remember, the filmmaker is expressing her social commentary on how African American girls view themselves.

2. Be sure that you know who Dr. Clark was and why he was important for Psychology and U.S. history.
3. Write (type or write in ink) a summary & response/reaction about the video.           Due  Friday, February 25, 2011

Paragraph 1 - Be sure to include the title of the video, who the film maker was, when and why it was created. What was the film maker's purpose in creaing this video?

Paragraph 2 - Give a summary about the video

Paragraph 3 - What's your response/reaction to the video? Some things to think about that you might include in your reaction/response...Were you surprised by what you saw and heard? Did you learn anything? Would psychologists be interested in what these girls said? Do you think this information is accurate? Could/Should psychologists believe that other African American girls share the same ideas? Was the attempt to duplicate Dr. Clark's experiment valid?
